2026 is GITEX's first year at its new home: Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City, after outgrowing the World Trade Centre. Every hotel guide written for the old DWTC editions is now obsolete — and the new district has a fraction of the walkable rooms the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor offered. Rove Expo City is the only hotel inside the district itself; it goes first.
The smart bases, in order: the Expo City / Dubai South cluster and Jebel Ali for the shortest ride; Dubai Marina, JBR and Bluewaters for the best mix of evenings and access — roughly 20–25 minutes by car and connected by the Route 2020 metro line straight to the venue. Downtown and DIFC, the classic GITEX corridor, are now a 35–45 minute commute each way — no longer the smart play.
The bigger squeeze: GITEX now lands in December's peak season, starting the day after the Abu Dhabi F1 finale (3–6 December). Back-to-back mega-events plus festive-season demand make 3–11 December the most compressed hotel stretch of the UAE year — Marina and JBR inventory gets hit from both directions.
